If this were to occur, it would be conceivable that OS X and iOS could become one operating system. This separation could change should ARM-based technology become as fast and efficient as desktop-based hardware. While it may be that new features will appear in both OS X and iOS in tandem, the products will remain separate operating systems and not merge.
